Recent Cannabis Club Australia reveals - In Australia, the move to legalise cannabis has gained momentum, thanks largely to the tenacity of Tamworth couple Lucy and Lou Haslam, who believed the benefits medicinal cannabis had on their dying son needed to be shared with the broader community. They were the driving force in co-ordinating an international symposium on medicinal cannabis, which helped shift the conversation from "if" to "when" cannabis would be legalised.

Science of Cannabis [Video]

The Science of Cannabis is an in-depth documentary that covers the real life applications of cannabis in the modern day. Given the wide range of anti-cannabis propaganda that has been spread through Western culture, it is no surprise that the plant has had a difficult time reaching its true medical potential. While cannabis has historically been the victim of social and political prejudice, this documentary attempts to thwart many of the myths which have been associated with its use and replace them with empirical data collected through medical research. The full spectrum of conditions which can be treated by cannabis is still up for debate, but this documentary makes it clear to lawmakers and the public at large that the plant deserves an opportunity to replace many of the harmful pharmaceuticals which have plagued society in recent years. Florida’s size and large percentage of elderly residents could vault the state to the second-largest U.S. medical cannabis market by 2020, a new report shows.

By 2020, Florida could be tallying $1.6 billion in medical marijuana sales — and have a 7.5 percent share of the overall U.S. legal cannabis market and a 14 percent share of the U.S. medical pot market, according to data released Tuesday from New Frontier Data and The Arcview Group, firms that specialize in conducting market research of the burgeoning cannabis industry.

John Stewart used to run the pharmaceutical company behind the narcotic painkiller OxyContin. Now he is banking on medical marijuana.

Mr Stewart does not know which is more controversial these days, OxyContin or pot.

He guesses the average person would give "a bigger negative" to the powerful and controversial painkiller that has been linked to the opioid overdose and addiction epidemic in the US and Canada.

"There is a lot of anti-opioid sentiment," he says, delicately. "And certainly based on the social disruption that we've seen it's understandable."

2016-debate-shows-importance-of-cannabis-state-ballot-initiatives

This election year marijuana is the most talked about issue on state ballots, yet no one is talking about it on the main stage at any of the presidential debates. Americans in eight states across the nation will vote on ten marijuana-related state ballot initiatives. That’s the most initiatives on a single topic, more than guns, abortion, or immigration. But you wouldn’t know it from the final debate between Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and GOP contender Donald Trump on Wednesday evening. They spent more time calling each other ‘puppets’, and arguing about what to do with the ‘hombres’ than speaking about cannabis.

There were a whopping ZERO mentions of marijuana legalization, which is a shame because there were so many topics that would’ve naturally pivoted to a chat about the controversial plant that’s winning over the nation, state-by-state.

Millions of voters across the United States are considering measures to roll back longstanding restrictions on marijuana this Election Day.

By the end of Tuesday night, five more states could fully legalize weed, which would put nearly one-quarter of the nation’s population in areas that have rejected prohibition and decided to tax and regulate the plant. An additional four states are voting on whether to legalize marijuana for medical use. If approved, pot would become legal in some form in 29 states and Washington D.C.

Marijuana policy reformers say this could be a watershed moment for their movement.

“Nov. 8 is the most important day in the history of the marijuana legalization movement,” Tom Angell, chairman of drug policy reform group Marijuana Majority, told The Huffington Post. “The stakes couldn’t be higher. Big wins will dramatically accelerate our push to finally end federal marijuana prohibition, perhaps as soon as 2017. But on the other hand, huge losses could interrupt the momentum we’ve been building for the last several years.”

Inside a small, suburban industrial building in Walled Lake, scientists in white lab coats look at marijuana under microscopes, noting every instance of mold or mites before sending the samples to be tested for potency and quality.

For five years, Iron Laboratories LLC has been filling a niche in Michigan's medical marijuana industry: Testing products for impurities and ensuring that the level of THC, the active chemical in marijuana, matches what is advertised, even though Michigan doesn't require such testing.

That's about to change. By December 2017, new licensing regulations will make safety testing mandatory, which is likely to ramp up competition. Gov. Rick Snyder's administration is expected to hire a vendor to run a statewide marijuana tracking system. And the regulations will add certainty for companies that have been operating in legal gray areas.
